Steel Prices in China

Long steel

-         Platts assessment of 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar in Beijing eased to Yuan 3,175-3,215/metric ton ($516-523/mt) actual weight with 17% VAT Friday, from Yuan 3,185-3,215/mt Thursday – source: Platts

-         The average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod in China’s major marketplaces fell 4 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 3,160 yuan per tonne on Friday; that of 20mm HRB400 rebar lost 3 yuan per tonne to 3,116 yuan per tonne – source: SteelHome

 

Flat steel

-        On Friday, the average price of 2.75mm HRC in China market fell 3 yuan per tonne to 3,477 yuan per tonne while that of 1.0mm CRC inched down 1 yuan per tonne to 4,100 yuan per tonne – source: SteelHome

-        The average price of 8mm medium plate in China reached 3,660 yuan per tonne on Friday, down 1 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day – source: SteelHome

 

Steel Prices in Other Countries

 

Scrap

-         A spate of sales saw heavy melting scrap I/II (80:20) move up to $387/mt CFR Friday, up from $382.50/mt the previous week – source: Platts

-         A steel producer in the Marmara region booked a European cargo on August 11, comprising 30,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (75:25) at $373.50 per tonne cfr, and 10,000 tonnes of a mixture of busheling and HMS 1 at $401 per tonne cf – source: MB

Semis

-         Vietnamese-origin electric arc furnace billet was ordered at $527/mt CFR Thailand during August 4 week – source: Platts

-         Chinese 120mm blast furnace billet, declared as “square bar with alloy,” was heard booked during July 28 week at $498/mt CFR Philippines – source: Platts

Bar/Wire rod

-         Turkish integrated long steelmaker Kardemir’s new sales price for round bar is at TRY 1,253/metric ton ($578) exworks, up TRY 19/mt on its previous list price – source: MB

 

HRC/P

-         Platts assessed East Asian imports of 3mm thick SS400 HRC at $523-538/mt CFR Friday, up from $520-535/mt a week ago – source: Platts

-         Nucor announced a $30/st price increase on carbon and alloy plate and a $40/st increase on heat-treated plate in a letter to customers issued late Friday – source: Platts

-         Domestic base prices for Northern European HRC remain at last week's levels of €410-430 ($548-575) per tonne ex-works for September production, while those in the South stayed at €410-420 ($548-561) per tonne – source: MB
