Steel Prices in China
Long steel
· On January 15, Platts assessed the export price for China-origin actual weight 16mm diameter and upBS460/HRB400 rebar at $371-375/mt FOB, down by $14.5/mt on week.- source: Platts

· China’s domestic market, Q235 5.5mm HRC prices were assessed at Yuan 2,830-2,860/mt ($457-462/mt), downYuan 20/mt from Wednesday. Source: Platts
· Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3mm and above thick at $430-435/mt FOB China Thursday for an implied midpoint of$432.50/mt, down $12.50/mt on the week.Source: Platts
Steel Prices in Other Countries
Scrap
· The slide in containerized scrap export prices off the US West Coast continued on Thursday. Sales were concludedas low as $257/mt CFR Taiwan for containerized HMS 80:20. Prices settled around $265/mt last week but bidswere being received at $260/mt by late in the week. This week prices fell below those levels.- source: Platts
· The average price of H2 scrap in Kanto region was at ¥26,333/ton, remaining unchanged; that in Central region was at ¥23,420/ton, dropping by ¥500/ton and that in Kansai regions was at ¥24,625/ton, decreasing by ¥1,000/ton; all compared to the figures in the previous week.source: Yieh
· For exporters of containerized scrap, Taiwan remained the main destination for shipments this week despite buyers pushing prices down $5 per tonne to $260-265 per tonne cfr Taiwan for an 80/20 mix of No 1 and No 2 heavy melt – source: MB

· Platts assessed the CIS billet at $397.5/mt FOB Black Sea on Thursday, stable on day.- source: Platts

· Steel First’s assessment for billet imports into Turkey was $412-416 per tonne cfr on Thursday January 15, down from $420-425 per tonne last week – source: MB
· A deal for 8,000 tonnes of Russian billet, from Frolovskiy Electric Steel Works {Volga-Fest), was closed at $392 per tonne fob Black Sea. The average freight rate from Russia is $20 per tonne- source: MB
Bar/ Wire rod
· European mills also pushed up rebar and section offers but the €15/mt increases were not yet achieved as themarket was slow to revive following the New Year break. The domestic northwest European rebar price assessmentremained at €415-425/mt ($489-501/mt) last week.- source: Platts
· In Hong Kong, deals for chromium-added rebar were concluded at around $400/mt CFR actual weight last week,with freight averaging at about $15/mt. Since then, offer prices declined by $5/mt to $395-400/mt CFR but marketsources said that there were no takers. Buyers were staying away in view of the falling market, a northern Chinese millsource said.- source: Platts
· In Singapore, buyers were also shunning Chinese offers at $390-395/mt CFR theoretical weight, which are $5/mtlower from last week. However, some mill sources said that rebar prices had fallen to $380/mt CFR Singapore. Acertain trader was heard offering northern Chinese rebar at this level, or about $371/mt FOB actual weight based on$20/mt freight and 3% volume tolerance. · Platts lowered its HRC import price to $510-530/st from $530-550/st and its CRC import price to $560-580/st from$580-600/st. All prices are on a CIF Houston basis.- source: Platts
