Tata Steel Thai Unit faces Net Loss for 2014/15 by sluggish demand

Tata Steel Thai Unit experiences Net Loss for 2014/15 due to weak demand and decreasing steel prices. Tata Steel expects to post a net loss for the fiscal year ending March 2015.

However, better domestic demand and positive outlook for steel prices should help the company improve profit in the next fiscal year. Thailand's domestic steel demand will increase at least 5% to about 18.5 million tons in 2015 due to the improving economic outlook.

The steel price should gradually move up. Tata Steel will target on value-added products and increase the sale proportion to between 40% and 50% of the total over the next two years from 20% now.
