The Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand (ISIT) has predicted that
domestic demand in 2015 will be up to 18.53 million tons that is an
increase of 6.8% than in 2014.
Steel demand in automotive and engineering industries will keep rising
by around 15%. Demand from building, home appliance and machinery
sectors is expected to raise by 8.3%, 3% and 2% respectively.
The country’s consumption totaled 17.34 million tons in 2014, dropping
by 3.5% from the last year. Meanwhile, the country’s imports of finished
steel reached 11.9 million tons, decreasing by 2.9% year on year.
