Taiwan's CSC may stop production due to water supply shortages

Taiwan’s China Steel Corp. may stop some production at hot rolled and cold rolled plants, due to limited water supply policy from April 1st.

CSC’s daily water consumption is about 137,000 tons for its continuous production line, including power, blast furnace, hot rolled and cold rolled lines.

The water policy is to supply only 7,000 tons a day. Its hot rolled line consumes water about 3,000 tons a day; its cold rolled line consumes water about 10,000 tons a day.

Even CSC can use recycled water with good efficiency, the shortage is 10,400 tons a day. CSC said that its HR and CR lines will take its turn to stop production.

The company’s sales revenue and delivery schedule will be affected as well.
