AK Steel executive retires

One of AK Steel's top executives who has been serving the company for nearly 15 years will retire at the end of May.

David Horn, executive vice president, chief legal and administrative officer and secretary, will retire from AK Steel effective May 31.

Horn joined AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) as assistant general counsel in 2000. He advanced to vice president and general counsel in 2001 and was elected corporate secretary in 2003. He became senior vice president, general counsel and secretary in 2005 and executive vice president in 2010. Horn was promoted to chief legal and administrative officer in 2014. Prior to AK Steel, Horn was a partner at Frost Brown Todd and a member of the firm's executive committee.

Horn is currently a member of the board of directors and executive committee of the board of the Mercy Health Foundation and the Pro Bono Partnership of Greater Cincinnati. He's also a member of the board and co-chair of the Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program.

AK Steel reported a net loss of $96.9 million, or 65 cents per diluted share, in 2014 compared to a net loss of $46.8 million, or 34 cents per diluted share, in 2013. Shares of AK Steel stock was trading down 11 cents at $5.04 on Thursday afternoon.

West Chester-based AK Steel employs about 2,500 in the region.
