American Steel Pipe, a division of American Cast Iron Pipe Co., has completed its new 150,000-square-foot steel pipe processing facility.
The $70 million project, which is the length of three football fields, doubles American's processing capacity to 700,000 net tons. The facility manufactures electric-resistance-welded steel pipe.
“It is two times the size, two times the capacity and much more,” said Jon Noland, division sales manager for American Steel Pipe. “This expansion builds on American’s commitment to produce the highest quality steel pipe, made in America – the right way.”
The facility also includes a number of
safety enhancements and new technological additions. Only a few
positions were created and filled internally due to the expansion
because the facility is nearly fully automated said Joy Carter American
Cast Iron Pipe Company Communications Manager.
Construction on the project began in June 2014.
