South Korea’s steel exports reach year-high in Jul
According to statistics released by the Korean Ministry of Trade,
Industry & Energy (MOTIE), the country’s steel export values totaled
US$19.8 billion in the first seven months, decreasing by 3.6% year on
year.
In July alone, steel exports amounted to US$3.4 billion, reaching a new
high this year and an increase of 16.4% from the same period of last
year. The main reason is driven by higher exports of structural steel.
In July, South Korea exports to China and Japan saw an increase of 24%
and 29.4% compared to last year respectively. However, steel exports to
Southeast Asia and the North American free trade area have increased
slightly.
