Posco plans to produce low density and high strength steel
According to the Korea media reported that Posco has tried to develop of
"low density and high strength steel" products will be carried out
starting from July trial production, and 2-3 years trying to achieve
commercial production.
This new steel called "High Specific Strength Steels", the density of
steel is only 15% of the ordinary steel. Posco also prepared foreign
patent applications for HS steel , which will raise some of interest
parties to concern.
In addition, the lightweight materials can apply for automotive use, in
ship building, civil engineering, bullet-proof armored vehicles, golf
equipment, unmanned aircraft and other areas. Once mass production, it
will have an great impact on industry as a whole.
