China's Aug crude steel output rises 1.7% on month but falls 3.5% on year to 66.94 mil mt
China produced 66.94 million mt of crude steel in August, rebounding
1.7% from July's 65.84 million mt, but down 3.5% from the same month
last year, latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed
Monday.
Over January-August, China's crude steel output totaled 543 million mt, down 2% year on year.
This marked a steeper drop from the year-on-year decline of 1.8% over January-July, and 1.3% decline over January-June.
China produced 57.61 million mt pig iron in August, up 0.5% from the prevoius month but down 5.1% year on year.
Over January-August, China's pig iron output fell 3.2% year on year to 471 million mt.
