The country’s hot rolled coil (HRC) imports totaled 10,366 mt, rising significantly by 116.5% year-on-year. The HRC imports by Brazil had totaled 4,788 mt during October last year. The value of HRC imports totaled $5.01 million FOB during October this year.
Brazil imported 11,719 mt of cold rolled coils (CRC) during Oct ’15, down marginally by 5.66% when matched with the imports of 12,422 mt during same month a year before. The value of CRC imports totaled $6.53 million during the month.
The hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) steel imports by Brazil dropped considerably by 58.86% to 22,914 mt, falling from 55,695 mt a year before. The value of HDG imports totaled $12.98 million.
The cumulative steel sheet imports by Brazil during the ten-month period from January to October this year totaled 740,487 mt. The imports dropped by almost one-third when matched with the imports of nearly 1 million mt during the corresponding ten-month period in 2014. The value of imports dropped from $698.88 million FOB a year before to $443.21 million FOB during Jan-Oct ’15.
