Govt to continue investigation on CRC importation
The Government has sufficient evidence to continue its investigation on
the importation of cold rolled coils (CRC) of alloy and non-alloy steel
from China, South Korea and Vietnam.
The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) said the Government
had decided to impose a provisional measure which shall be in the form
of provisional anti-dumping duties guaranteed by a security equivalent
to the amount of the dumping margin determined in the preliminary
investigation.
“Provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 4.58% to 23.78% will be
applied on imports from the alleged countries and shall be effective not
more than 120 days from Jan 25, 2016,” it said in a statement on
Friday.
Based on the findings of the investigation, Miti said a final determination would be made no later than May 23, 2016.
“Interested parties such as importers, foreign producers/exporters and
associations related to the investigation can have access to the
non-confidential version of the public report on the preliminary
determination by submitting written request to the ministry,” it added.
The Government had, on Aug 27, 2015, initiated the anti-dumping
investigation based on a petition filed by CSC Steel Sdn Bhd on behalf
of the domestic industry producing CRC.
The petitioner alleged that imports of CRC from China, South Korea and
Vietnam were being imported at a price lower than the domestic selling
price level, causing material injury to the local industry.
