Grab IBS-Based Opportunities, CIDB Urges SMEs
The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has urged small and
medium enterprises (SMEs) to venture into Industrialised Building
System-related businesses, saying this would also help to increase the
number of affordable houses nationwide.
IBS consists of component systems, including steel and timber
structures, that are fabricated on-site or off-site under controlled
conditions.
With more SMEs involved in the making of IBS components, the nation's
IBS industry would be more competitive and more contractors would adopt
IBS in their housing projects, CIDB Senior General Manager Datuk Ir.
Elias Ismail told reporters after a media briefing on IBS and
transformation of the construction industry here Monday.
