Long steel

• Platts assessed 16-20mm diameter BS500 rebar unchanged for a fourth straight working day at $310-315/metric ton FOB China actual weight. - source: Platts

• East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,220-2,250 yuan ($344-348) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,130-2,160 yuan ($330-334) per tonne, including VAT. – source: Steel First

Flat steel

• East China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,300-2,330 yuan ($355-360) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,280-2,300 yuan ($352-355) per tonne, including VAT.. – source: Steel First

• Eastern Chinese HRC prices were at 2,380-2,420 yuan ($368-374) per tonne last Friday, up 160-170 yuan ($25-26) per tonne from a week earlier, but down from March 8's peak of 2,550-2,650 yuan ($394-409) per tonne.  – source: Steel First

• China, base export offer prices for commercial-grade, boron-containing HRC, $350-360 per tonne fob, May shipment.  – source: Steel First

• Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3.0mmt thick at $345-350/metric ton, flat on the day. Nearly all Chinese mills have now stopped quoting for export, but some may be willing to sell at $345-350/mt FOB China if a buyer was determined, several Chinese exporters said. A major mill in eastern China was willing to sell SS400 HRC at around $350/mt FOB China, one trader based in Shanghai said. - source: Platts

• As of March 14, HRC prices in Shanghai had increased by Yuan 525/mt from last December's historical low. - source: Platts

 Semis

• Tangshan billet list prices were prevailing on Monday at Yuan 1,840/mt, compared with Yuan 2,020/mt Friday. Prices rose last Monday, March 7, to Yuan 2,140/mt and even touched 2,260/mt the following day before easing back later that day. Over the three days to March 7, prices had increased by a whopping Yuan 360/mt.- source: Platts

Steel Prices in Other Countries

 

Scrap

• Prices for imported scrap strengthened to as high as $216/mt CFR last week and scrap suppliers are also now targeting levels above $220/mt CFR. - source: Platts

• Steel First's daily index for HMS 1&2 (80:20) from Northern Europe closed at $209.51 per tonne cfr Turkey, unchanged compared with Friday's index. - source: Steel First

• The weekly average of TSI's daily reference price for Turkish imports of HMS 1&2 80:20 jumped by $14 or 7% to $208/metric ton CFR Iskenderun port. The price has leaped by $33 or nearly 19% in the last four weeks and is at a six-month high.

Semis

• Steel First's weekly price assessment for CIS-origin slab exports stood at $290-300 per tonne fob Black Sea on Monday, up from $250-255 per tonne fob. - source: Steel First

• Platts assessed its daily CIS Black Sea billet price at $310/mt FOB Black Sea, stable on Friday's level. - source: Platts

 

Bar/ Wire rod

• Platts assessed Turkish export rebar at $366/metric ton FOB on Monday, up $6/mt from Friday - source: Platts

HRC/P

• The weekly Platts assessment for HRC was at £245-260/mt DDP West Midlands at the end of last week reflecting transaction prices, although offer levels from Tata Steel and continental European suppliers were far higher than this. - source: Platts
