The total crude steel production by EU-28 countries during February this year was 13.081 Million tonnes (Mt), sharply down by 6.3% than the February 2015 production of 13.966 Mt. Other European countries produced 2.587 Million tonnes of crude steel, up by nearly 3.8% when compared to 2.493 Million tonnes production achieved during February 2015. The CIS countries’ crude steel production increased marginally by 2.8% from 7.929 Mt to 8.154 Mt. The total crude steel production by North America was up slightly by 1.7% from 8.660 Mt in February 2015 to 8.809 Mt in February this year.
The total crude steel production by South American region during February this year dropped by 9.4% to 3.180 Mt. African countries produced 912,000 tonnes of crude steel, considerably lower by 26% when compared to 1.233 Million tonnes production achieved during February 2015. The total crude steel production by the Middle East countries during February this year was 2.175 Million tonnes(Mt), lower by 7.1% when compared with the February 2015 output of 2.342 Mt. The Asian countries’ crude steel production dropped by 3.4% from 83.966 Mt to 81.085 Mt. The total crude steel production by Oceania region too declined by 7.8% from 0.465 Mt in February 2015 to 0.429 Mt in February this year.
