Long steel

• Platts-assessed prices in Beijing for 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar soared by Yuan 420/mt ($65/mt) or 22% since the New Year - source: Platts

 

• East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,230-2,280 yuan ($342-350) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,180-2,200 yuan ($334-337) per tonne, including VAT.  – source: Steel First

Flat steel

Scrap

• Steel First assessed USA-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) containerised scrap in Taiwan at $200-208 per tonne cfr for the week to Friday March 25, up from $185-195 per tonne cfr a week earlier. - source: Steel First

 

Semis

• South Korean mills were asked to accept offers for Chinese billet at $310-320/mt CFR three weeks ago when previous contracts struck at $270-280/mt CFR were not honored, a Korean trader said Monday. The Chinese mills have since raised their offer prices to $320-330/mt CFR. - source: Platts

 

Bar/ Wire rod

• The domestic wire rod market sales price for 12-32mm diameter rebar by TRY 20 ($7)/mt to TRY 1,410/mt ex-works for Istanbul. The company also increased its 7-8.5mm diameter wire rod prices by the same amount to TRY 1,470-1,500/mt ex-works, including VAT. - source: Platts

 

HRC/P

• Platts maintained its HRC and CRC price assessments at $430-$450/st and $600-$620/st, respectively. Both assessments are normalized to a Midwest (Indiana) ex-works basis. - source: Platts
