Crude steel output by Asian region held steady in March

According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Asia remained more or less flat with marginal rise of 0.8% during the month of March 2016 year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by China during March was 70.650 Million tonnes, rising marginally by 2.9% when compared with the production of 68.659 Mt during March 2015. India produced 8.059 Million tonnes of crude steel, marginally higher by 3.4% when compared with 7.797 Million tonnes production achieved during March last year.

Japan reported 6.8% decline in monthly crude steel output during the month. Japan’s crude steel output dropped from 9.282 Million tonnes in March 2015 to 8.648 Million tonnes in the same month this year.

South Korean crude steel production declined by 8.4% from 5.927 Million tonnes in March 2015 to 5.430 Million tonnes in March this year. Meantime, Pakistan’s crude steel output totaled 260,000 tonnes during the month.

The Taiwanese Mar ‘16 crude steel output has dropped considerably by 14.7% year-on-year to 1.775 Million tonnes from 2.081 Million tonnes during same month last year. Also, Thailand’s crude steel output has dropped sharply by 22.7% from 323,000 tonnes during March last year to almost 250,000 tonnes this year.
