Malaysia steel scrap imports from United States and Singapore dropped during the first two months of this year, while the imports from Japan shot up by 56.5% year-on-year, as per the latest figures from the Malaysian Department of Statistics.
Malaysia's steel scrap imports from Singapore declined drastically by 71% to 11,947 ton during January to February of this year, as compared to 41,416 tons a year early. The share of Singapore in Malaysia's total scrap imports was 40 percent.
Malaysia's steel scrap imports from US down by 9% to 5,538 ton during January to February of this year, as compared to 6,144 tons a last year.
Steel scrap imports from Japan advanced sharply by 56.5% year-on-year to 3,352 tons during the first two months of this year.
However, Malaysia's total ferrous scrap imports plummeted by 69.7% to 29,634 ton during January to February of this year, as compared to 97,800 tons a year early.
