Steel price report as of August 9, 2011

Scrap

-          Korean domestic scrap prices declined slightly this week. H1 grade scrap was sold at $442-460 per tonne, down $9-18 per tonne – source: SBB

Semis

-          Billet prices on LME three-month contract remained flat at $585-590 per tonne – source: MB

-          Billet import price into South East Asia remained firm at $680 per tonne FOB. Billet to Philippines at $690-695 per tonne CFR – source: SBB

-          Brazil's August slab export price remained stable at $708-710 per tonne FOB to US and Mexico and at $680-700 per tonne FOB to Taiwan – source: SBB

Bar

-          Turkish rebar producers cut domestic prices to $750-760 per tonne ex-work price – source: MB

-          Malaysian mills cut rebar prices in two months by RM50 per tonne to RM3,400 per tonne ($796) due to Ramadan slow down sales – source: MB

HRC

-          October HRC forward contract on the Shanghai Steel Exchange Centre (SSEC) dropped by 1.6% to 4,761 Yuan per tonne ($739) – source: MB

-          Several Russian and Ukrainian mills indicated $15-20 per tonne increases motnh-on-month on export prices for September rolling to $705-715 FOB Black Sea & Baltic Sea Ports – source- MB
