Steel price report as of February 15, 2011

Scrap

-          Offer prices of HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix) in containers from Europe, the Middle East and Africa to Vietnam fell to 460 -470 USD per tonne CFR this week, from 480-500 USD per tonne CFR in mid January – source: MB

-          Scrap prices start to rise in eastern China. Jiangsu province steel mills sold at 536 USD per tonne with 17% VAT  - source: SBB

Semis

-          CIS billet price at 610-620 USD per tonne FOB Black Sea for February production – source: MB

-          Vietnam billet price offer at 670-680 USD per tonne CFR, up from 650-680 USD per tonne CFR last week – source: MB

-          Russian billet is offered to Indonesia at 655 USD per tonne CFR – source: SBB

-          Offers for ICS billet to East Asia at 685-690 USD per tonne CFR (unchanged) – source: SBB

-          Billet prices in northern China's Tangshan City rose to 669-671 USD per tonne ex-work with VAT for 150x150 Q235 billet – source: SBB

-          Slab export prices from CIS continue to climb. Russian-origin slab to S.E. Asia at 765 USD per tonne CFR and up to 730 FOB Black Sea to other destinations – source: SBB

Bar

-          Vietnam steel raised it rebar price to 15.7 -16.2 million dong per tonne ($805-830) – source: MB

-          CIS rebar exporters cut prices by $30 per tonne. Small rebar tonnages sold to UAE at west Africa at 660-670 USD per tonne FOB Black Sea for the end of February production – source: MB

Hot rolled coil prices

-          Baoshan Iron & Steel (Baosteel) and Wuhan Iron & Steel will raise HRC price by 300 Yuan ($45.5) per tonne – source: Reuters
