Recently, Japan Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation Group (NSSMC) invested US$50 million in Indiana, Shelbyville (Shelbyville) in the United States, to set up new production joint venture--Nippon Steel cold heading steel wire rod cold forged steel wire company of Indiana (Nippon Steel • Sumikin Cold Heading Wire Indiana) officially started.
The plant covers an area of 150,000 square feet, designed annual capacity of 39,000 tons of wire rod. It is expected to start fall production in Spring of 2018.
Its products are mainly used in the production of auto parts with fasteners, downstream users to auto parts manufacturer in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
