According to the General Authority for Statistics, square billet imports in Saudi Arabia have declined by 1.19 pct to 577,355 tons in H1 2016 as compared to 584,336 tons during the similar period last year.
Half of the total square billet imports were from China. Chinese billet imports spike by 189 pct YoY to 292,168 tons, in H1 2016.
In H1 2016, billet imports from Oman have also increased to 30,992 tons, reflecting decline of 54 pct YoY.
Billet imports from Ukraine were declined by 66 pct to 109,623 tons in H1 2016 as compared to 322,225 tons in H1 2015. Turkish billet imports were also down to 2,001 tons as compared to 3,458 tons in H1 2015.
Billet imports from Bahrain and Brazil were 36,213 tons and 96,270 tons respectively in H1 2016. Malaysian origin billet imports were 10,088 tons in the same period. In H1 2015, there was no import from Bahrain, Brazil & Malaysia.
There were no billet imports from Qatar & Egypt in H1 2016 as opposed to 93,339 tons and 43,983 tons in H1 2015, respectively.
